Pre-Operative Surgical Instructions Related To Patients Undergoing General Anesthesia and/or Intravenous Sedation

Complying with the pre-operative instructions is important for your safety and should be followed carefully. Failure to comply could consequently result in the delay, or even cancellation of the surgery. If you have any questions or are confused about the instructions, please call us.

  1. No intake of solid foods after Midnight. Up to 4 hours prior to the surgery, clear fluids (water, soda may be taken, however NO milk or pulp drinks such as orange juice before the appointment.
  2. A responsible adult who will accompany and remain in the office during the entire procedure must drive the patient home. This applies to ALL patients, including those over the age of 18.
  3. Loose fitting clothing must be worn. This includes sleeves, which can be rolled up the arm, past the elbow. If you prefer to wear jewelry and contacts, they must be removed at the time of surgery.
  4. Visit the restroom at least half an hour prior to your appointment.
  5. Please refrain from smoking prior to your surgery.
  6. Payment is expected on the day of surgery unless other financial arrangements have been made.
