Matthew E. Simmons, D.D.S.
Matthew E. Simmons, D.D.S. is originally from Baltimore, MD. After graduating from High School in 1983 he attended Boston College and was awarded a B.S. in Biology in 1987. Following graduation he returned to his hometown and attended the University of Maryland Dental School, receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1992 and was awarded the Horace Wells Award for outstanding achievement in the field of Dental Anesthesiology.
After completing a General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA he served a one year internship in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Satisfying his special interest in the field of anesthesiology, he was accepted into and completed a one year fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital focused completely on Anesthesia.
Dr. Simmons then received formal training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA from July 1995 – June 1999. He worked in a private practice in Maryland before relocating to Erie in 2001.
He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys golfing, hunting, skiing and spending time with his wife, two children and chocolate lab.
Dr. Simmons is on staff at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, UPMC Hamot Surgery Center, Saint Vincent Hospital, Saint Vincent Surgery Center and the Village SurgiCenter of Erie. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and past president of the Erie County Dental Association.
